AT&T relocating some jobs from St. Louis to other markets

ST. LOUIS – Telecommunications company AT&T announced plans Friday to relocate some jobs from St. Louis to other U.S. markets.

In a statement sent to FOX 2, AT&T says it is “consolidating some work functions from St. Louis to other strategic hub locations.” The company says it will still have a presence in the St. Louis area.

The statement, in full, reads: “We’ve streamlined our business to be simpler, more focused, and efficient, aiming to be the best provider of 5G and Fiber connectivity. As part of our ongoing review of operations and efforts to bring teams closer together, we are consolidating some work functions from St. Louis to other strategic hub locations. We will continue to maintain a presence in the St. Louis area including an employee base serving in various roles. This change supports our operational focus on faster decision making, in-person real-time innovation, and a culture enhancing the effectiveness of our teams in serving our customers.”

It’s unclear how many workers may be affected at this time, though the St. Louis Business Journal reports the latest announcement could impact hundreds of jobs.

The announcement to relocate St. Louis Jobs also comes nearly a week after the company moved forward with plans to relocate some workers from its Earth City office in St. Louis County to downtown St. Louis.

AT&T is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and employs around 150,000 people nationwide, according to Statista.com . AT&T was named the 13th largest employer in Missouri in 2019, per state data .
