MONTGOMERY, AL – Acting U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson announced today that a Millbrook man has been sentenced for possessing cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute. On October 10, 2024, a federal judge handed down a 165-month prison term to Derrick Andrea White, 44. The judge also ordered three years of supervised release after prison. There's no parole in the federal system.

Court records and the plea agreement show that on March 18, 2023, an Alabama trooper tried to pull over a car in Wetumpka for a violation. The driver, later identified as White, didn't stop. During the chase, the trooper saw White throwing things out of his car window. The pursuit ended when White hit a dead end and ran. He was caught after a brief foot chase. Officers found the items White tossed, which turned out to be cocaine and marijuana packages. At his July 9, 2024 plea hearing, White admitted he had the drugs to sell them.

The FBI and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency led the investigation, with help from the DEA and other agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Justin L. Jones and Eric M. Counts handled the prosecution.
