They provided some quick insights on each song to describe their feelings before the release of “Love Without Fear” on October 28th, 2024 (NOTE: Click the highlighted titles below for the two pre-listen songs) … Carla Hayden: This song is dedicated to Greta Thunberg, Justin Pearson, Amanda Gorman, Sari Kaufman and to all the young voices fighting against gun violence and for social and environmental justice.James Moeller: Carla usually dedicates this song to Greta Thunberg. When I listen to it, I flash to being at Electrical Audio, sitting in the lotus position on a carpet in that high-ceiling room called Centerfield. Carla was on the mic, wearing headphones, singing to the backing track. All I could hear in the room was her voice, unaccompanied. Carla’s voice &amp; lyrics are truly beautiful &amp; astonishing. The band plays magnificently.2) Gabriel’s HornHayden: This song is a truth, it really happened, one morning in early spring, James and I stepped out into our backyard and a little house sparrow fell from the sky and crashed on the earth in front of our eyes. His body was still, with a little ribbon of red on trailing on the snow. The song is a prayer for the spirit of the little bird.Moeller: Carla’s poetic rendering of a real event. We found a new sound, a bit exotic &amp; powerful. Randy Farr’s doumbek, Michael Hovnanian and Doug Johnson on double bass, Nura Aly on violin, they all really make this track fly. 21st Century Druid Music in action. A simple true moment becomes a poetic myth.3) Green ManHayden: One night James woke and saw him (The Green Man) standing in the dining room and the next morning he said, “Carla!!!! In the middle of the night I saw The Green Man, he was standing by the bookcase and he was glaring!!!” He looked right through me, and he wasn’t very happy.” James wasn’t sure if it was an apparition, but it definitely happened and was something from another realm.Moeller: A “vision song.” Such a strange one. Not sure if it was a lucid dream, or some kind of hallucination. Weird time signature. Michael’s double-bass on the chorus is fabulous. Say their name. The first part of the song was written in response to the random mass shootings and police brutality in our country, the second part of the song is about the possibility that everything might be gathered up in the arms of love to be healed. The music came together while James and I were sitting under a tree at the park, and felt like a gift from the shadows of the trees.Moeller: This one came to life on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the park. A journey song. Another fabulous vocal take from Carla. Love the slow build to catharsis at the end, everyone in the band playing with soul &amp; fire. Nura Aly’s violin is so lyrical and beautiful throughout. Tim O’Brien’s bass on this track is the secret sauce.5) Don’t Belong HereHayden: This is a story song about someone much like a prophet, or a mythical being who found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.Moeller: A story-song about being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Randy plays cowbell on this one; truly the cherry on top (“More cowbell!”). Nura’s violin is subtle and brilliant. Love Steve Rutstein’s drumming.As the used to say back in the day – flip the record!
