The University Heights Academy 7th grader finished in 20th place at Saturday’s Class 1A Region 1 cross meet and in doing so qualified for state.</p><p>Cavinder covered the 3.1-mile course at Marshall County High School in 28:01. She had run in four middle school events this season ranging from 2,500 meters to 4,000 meters before her first 5,000-meter run on Saturday.</p><p>Cavinder’s cousin Tyson runs for Hopkinsville and also qualified for the state meet. Molly becomes the first UHA girl in six years to qualify for the state meet. Muki Kunnman and Piper Hancock both ran in the 2018 state meet.
