If your from Owensboro or local area i'm sure you've found yourself looking for something to get into. Unfortunately it's tough trying to find something fun to get into. Scrolling through Facebook I have always come accross "The Adult Bookfair", and like most people I always got a giggle wondering how 'Adult' these bookfairs were. With the fun company of a good friend of mine Robb Basham.
The parking lot was packed so paking was a tad bit hard to find. We parked on the side of the building, and walked around to check out the booths outfront first. There were some creative wood bookmarks, some healthy looking plants, and some pretty friendly vendors. At first I was nervous that this was all there was, but thankfully there was so much more!
First walking in you are welcomed by a full decked out Halloween decor, and it brings some Rockin vibes. It definitely brings a welcoming feeling, and there are so many different types of people. There are adults, families, and so much more. Though the inside was so much fun us book nerds were excited for more! We wanted the authors, the books, and of course whatever else this fair had offer, and making a quick right theres a magic tunnel to their outdoor seating, and it had everything we were expecting and so much more!
Walking into the Adult Bookfair we are first introduced to Joseph Fulkerson who is a local Owensboro author. He did an epic pitch of his book, and we are super looking forward to hearing Robs review of the book. Talking to Joseph he let us know that the book was a horror inspired by the movie "Fratality", Midnight Mass, and The Book of Enoch. It sounds like something I need grab a copy of!
The Shop Around The Corner provides a fun break of cute badge reels, cups, and so much more!
Watch Tower Comics has all your comic needs! This vendor was very enthusiastic about his collection. He mostly brings first editions for those comic newbies like myself whom are just starting to jump into the comic world! He had epic writers such as Joe Hill, Neil Gaiman, and so many others.
You may recognise this friendly face from Gramps coffee!! Virginia Hardesty is the Barista with the besta. Doing coffees in morning this multitalented woman also hosts the Owensboro "Silent book club", and runs her own book company called Displaced Pages. She let us know that her passion for books and reading really became the inspiration for starting this book stand and the club.
The next step we had to make was to the house of Gryffindor to find out what her table was all about! This young author Christa Elise Hill wrote a poem book "The Honey in the Hive" which is also available on Amazon, and made a second book "Even when the lights are on." The second book is a poetry book about an adult dealing with childhood traumas. Robb thought it was awesome had get another. 2 Points for Robb 0 for me. Haha
Robb and I decided split somee delicous food and get a drink. We got to really know more about each other, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was so upbeat. The staff always was friendly, and the food was to die for. The best part? The prices! The prices were amazing, and the food was even better.
We stopped by this vendors shop and it was so much fun! he had some AMAZING sales, and some pretty cool stuff. Toy cars, Books, and funko pops! I was dying to get the Yuyu Hakushow FunkoPop, but my heart was set on finding the perfect book.
After walking and walking trying to find the perfect book I finally ran into Emilee's stand. A book on if there was a cure for mental illness and it all goes wrong sucked me in immediately. This talented author is so passionate with her book, she provides character pictures, and a free bookmark! Robb and I both walked out with a book and were so excited to come together do book review episode on Aks Cafe and on the website!
