Dense Fog Advisory Issued for Southern Louisiana and Southeast Texas

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for Southern Louisiana and Southeast Texas, effective from 3 AM to 9 AM Monday. A weak ridge of high pressure over the Gulf states is contributing to calm winds and clear skies, creating ideal conditions for fog formation overnight. Current temperatures range from the upper 60s to lower 70s, with expected lows in the upper 50s across Central Louisiana and lower to mid-60s elsewhere.

Visibility is anticipated to drop significantly, particularly in most areas of Southern Louisiana and Southeast Texas, while the immediate coastal regions may see less fog due to lingering winds. This advisory is likely to be the last of its kind for widespread dense fog, as a developing low-pressure system over the western plains will increase the pressure gradient by Monday afternoon, resulting in stronger southeasterly winds. These winds are forecasted to gust up to 30 MPH by Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing increased humidity with dewpoints in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
