TGI Fridays has closed another South Jersey restaurant

CHERRY HILL — The party's over for a TGI Fridays restaurant here.

The dwindling restaurant chain has closed its eatery along Route 38 across from the Cherry Hill Mall. This shutdown of the decades-old eatery is the third Fridays to close in this area since 2021. The firm now has only two South Jersey sites in Burlington Township and Washington Township.

Fridays closed a restaurant along Route 73 in Evesham in January, saying it was among 36 “underperforming locations" being closed across the country.

The Cherry Hill restaurant's shutdown took effect Thursday, Oct. 24, according to a notice taped to the front door.

"We regret to inform you that Fridays has made the difficult decision to close our doors,” it says.

The sign invites customers to visit the chain's Burlington Township location.

TGI Fridays in recent days has closed dozens of restaurants across the country, according to media reports.

Bloomberg News has reported the chain on Oct. 18 said it was considering a bankruptcy action.

TGI Fridays at that time had more than 270 locations in the United States. Its website now lists 164 restaurants.

The website describes Fridays as "the original casual dining bar and grill." It also notes changes in top management, restaurant closings and other measures intended to improve the firm's performance.
