NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was arrested over the weekend after almost hitting two law enforcement officers with his vehicle during a traffic stop and then fleeing the scene, according to arrest reports.

Julio Escamilla, 22, was arrested after the incident on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Around 10 p.m., officers saw Escamilla driving recklessly and doing donuts with his vehicle in a parking lot near Antioch Pike and Space Park Drive, reports said.

A state trooper and a sergeant approached Escamilla’s vehicle, a silver Crown Victoria, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Both officers got out of the vehicle and walked towards the front of the vehicle when Escamilla reportedly put the car in drive and “rammed the front of the patrol car,” almost hitting the officers, documents said.

He then sped away from the scene. Officers tracked the vehicle to Richards Road, where they stopped it by spiking the tires. Escamilla was arrested at the scene.

When officers searched his vehicle, they found a 9mm pistol tucked into the passenger seat.

Escamilla is charged with evading arrest and aggravated assault of a first responder. He is being held in Metro jail on a $77,500 bond.
