    Erie teens compete nationally in horse judging competition

    Three Erie teens recently competed in the U.S. Arabian & Half-Arabian National Championship Youth Judging Contest in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sophia Block, Clara DeSouza and Audrey Wright all placed in several different competitions.

    DeSouza was second in halter, seventh in performance, second in reasons and fourth overall. Wright was fifth in halter, 15th in performance, fifth in reasons and eighth overall. In her first national contest, Block finished 20th in halter, 16th in performance, 19th in reasons and 20th overall.

    The three are all 4-H members who compete on the Boulder County 4-H Horse Judging Team.

    The Colorado Arabian Horse Club/Region VIII Arabian Horse Association junior team was first in the halter division, third in performance and first in reasons to earn the Reserve National Championship.

    Team members from Boulder, Weld, and Elbert Counties came together to form an all-Colorado 4-H team which was named Reserve National Champions in its division, close behind the Colorado 4-H team from El Paso County.
