She took the kids to her mother's house just before I had my epiphany."In the Reddit post, Mitch claims the lamp continued to grow wider and deeper as he continued to stare, eventually taking up his entire perspective in the room.This is where this story goes from strange to heart breaking and tragic.Mitch's epiphany was that "the lamp is not real....the house is not real, my wife, my kids... none of that is real... the last 10 years of my life are not real!"Mitch claims that suddenly "all I could see was red, I heard voices, screams, all kinds of weird noises and I became aware of pain.... a ton of pain... the first words I said were 'I'm missing teeth' and opened my eyes. Rare, but not uncommon.Mitch has said this experience has ruined his life and has only told this story publicly once.
