ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — State police say an Enfield man was charged with reckless driving after a trooper allegedly clocked him driving over 100 mph on Interstate 84.

A trooper tracked down a white Mercedes GLC30 around 5 p.m. Sunday, after state police received multiple calls reporting it driving erratically on the westbound side of the highway near Exit 64.

Once found, the vehicle was clocked at 106 mph in a posted 65 mph zone. Police also said it was failing to stay in its lane.

The driver complied with the trooper’s emergency lights and sirens and pulled over.

When the trooper asked the driver about his speed, he reportedly said he had an immediate family member dying in the hospital- a statement which was later proved false.
