Four puppies were less than ten days old, their eyes still closed, when they were tossed away along the side of a highway in Madisonville, Texas one week ago. Had it not been for Good Samaritans who found them and brought the puppies to the nearest law enforcement agency, chances are we wouldn’t be telling their rescue story.<figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=3CZvnw_0wPnrZkz00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3CZvnw_0wPnrZkz00" width="768" height="1024" ></figure>Deputies in the Madisonville area quickly brought the puppies to a veterinarian where it was determined the puppies, in their very short lives, had already endured a tremendous amount of abuse.<figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=3venXU_0wPnrZkz00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3venXU_0wPnrZkz00" width="960" height="1280" ></figure><blockquote>the post said their legs were sliced to the tendons at the bends of the knees, tails cut off, and their legs were yanked out of sockets.</blockquote>Tragically, one of the four puppies – a tiny female’s injuries were so severe, she had to be euthanized. Madison County does not have a shelter, so these puppies were in desperate need of a rescue.<figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=1Clc80_0wPnrZkz00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1Clc80_0wPnrZkz00" width="1536" height="2048" ></figure>ThisIsHouston stepped up and volunteered to help. One of the investigators brought them to the rescue organization the next day. (two hours from Houston). From there the puppies all went to the rescue’s partner veterinarian for medical evaluations and immediate care.<figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=3GlPaO_0wPnrZkz00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3GlPaO_0wPnrZkz00" width="1536" height="2048" ></figure>Drax had no injuries.Groot is missing the tip of his tail.Rocket has a deep laceration to his front right arm along with a wounded paw pad.<figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=48pCBz_0wPnrZkz00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=48pCBz_0wPnrZkz00" width="637" height="759" ></figure>For now, the puppies’ injuries are bandaged, and it is a wait and see how they heal before any decisions about surgical intervention will be considered.<blockquote>These bellies! And we’re continuing to keep an eye on Rocket’s arm wound.
