Bystanders leapt into action to assist a person who experienced a medical emergency that left their vehicle rolling toward a lake in Colorado in recent days.

The Lakewood Police Department extended a public 'thanks' to the people who assisted when a person was in need of help at Kendrick Lake Park. A driver experiencing a medical emergency ended up off-pavement and rolling toward the park's namesake lake, with bystanders who were unable to open the doors to assist thinking quickly to place rocks and tree branches in front of the vehicle to stop the car's roll.

"As you can see, it was a close call," wrote law enforcement on the matter.

By successfully stopping the vehicle, it provided first responders with enough time to arrive and assist, getting the driver the medical attention that was needed.

Kendrick Lake Park is located on the southwest side of Lakewood on West Jewell Avenue.
