DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Dothan man was arrested over the weekend after police claimed he made a swatting call to get revenge on someone he was fighting with.

According to Dothan Police, in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 26, officers received a call about an edge weapon assault in the 400 block of East Powell Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they were unable to find a suspect, victim, or the person reporting the alleged assault.

A release from DPD says officers discovered it was a false report, and after a short investigation, police identified the caller as 53-year-old Keri Lashun Leake and found him a few hours later.

Police say during questioning, Leake admitted to making the false report because he had gotten into a fight with someone and wanted that person, who had no relation to Leake, to be “harassed” as a potential victim of the stabbing as revenge.

Leake was charged with one count of felony swatting and booked into the Houston County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
