Bucs Fans All Saying The Same Thing About Controversial Kyle Pitts TD

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers once again went down to the wire with the Atlanta Falcons. Unlike last time, the Bucs did not have control in the final minutes and were forced to play catch up, ultimately falling short.

A number of mistakes and self-inflicted wounds marked the defeat. Rachaad White fumbled on the opening drive and Bakery Mayfield once again tossed a pair of interceptions.

Of course, a team cannot expect a win when making such errors. But one play in particular stood out in regard to the Bucs' fortunes in this game.

Midway through the second quarter, the Bucs led 14-7 with the Falcons pressed into a 2nd and 10 at midfield. Kirk Cousins found an open Kyle Pitts who rumbled his way through a few tacklers and down the left side of the field.

However, Pitts relaxed himself near the goal line, leaving him vulnerable to Antoine Winfield Jr. who poked the ball free from behind. The call on the field was a touchdown and remained that way upon review.

Strangely, no pylon camera or additional definitive angle could prove the truth either way, leaving some to spectate the validity of the call.

If decided a fumble and touchback, Tampa Bay gets the ball and maintains their lead, presenting a litany of potentially similar or different outcomes. Nonetheless, the call underscores the frustration of the game on the Bucs' side.

Once again, the Bucs came up short against Atlanta, giving their rival a clear edge to maintain control of the division the rest of the season. Without Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, the latter for the near future, Tampa Bay will start each game at a deficit.

While the play was an annoying reality to accept in the moment, it symbolizes the  current reality for this team.

Tampa Bay is in no position to allow their opponents any leeway or damage themselves with careless errors. When they do, even their best efforts cannot make up the necessary ground for them to be successful.

The same course of action played out in the fourth quarter. A safety, touchdown and a Falcons' missed field goal still left them out of reach at the final whistle.

Pitts' goal line blunder may be called upon by Bucs' fans as an injustice that cost them in the box score. Ultimately, the Bucs need to be more aware and disciplined, avoiding the mistakes that force them into positions of chasing from behind.
