MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was shot and killed in his home early Monday, according to Muskegon police.

Around 2:18 a.m., officers with the Muskegon Police Department were called to a home on Sophia Street near E Apple Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Arriving officers found a 30-year-old Muskegon man shot inside his home. They tried to save his life but were unsuccessful and the victim died on the way to the hospital, police said. The man was not identified by police.

Detectives are investigating but police say it does not appear to be random. They did not release any information about a suspect.

Anyone with information should call the Muskegon Police Department at 231.724.6750 or Silent Observer at 231.722.7643.
