Texas: Venezuelan Migrant Gang Crime Concerns Grow

Concerns about the activities of the violent Venezuelan migrant gang "Tren de Aragua" (TDA) in Texas are growing with reports about their crimes in the Lone Star State.

The most recent report comes from the Dallas suburb of Farmers Branch where three of four TDA gang members wanted for a murder there have been arrested in their stronghold of Aurora, Colorado.

The four TDA members were sought for the August 24, 2024 kidnapping and murder of Nilzult Arneaud Petit. According to an October 28, 2024 news release Farmers Branch Police say the victim "was an associate of the suspects and allegedly involved in a complex ATM theft operation targeting several locations nationwide."

The TDA was also brought up by Texas Senator Ted Cruz this month during a televised debate with Democrat Colin Allred who is challenging him in the November elections:

“I hear about it everywhere I go. I hear about it in Dallas – the folks concerned about the Dallas woman who Venezuelan gangs broke into her house, tied her up, pistol whipped her with a gun…and robbed her.” -U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (October 15, 2024)

According to the Dallas Morning News, the September 21, 2024 Dallas home invasion netted the Venezuelan migrant "crew" who committed it (and who were formerly TDA members before striking out on their own) "$75,000 in jewelry, designer purses, a bank card, and the victim’s iPhone."

These arrests follow the release of a map of known TDA criminal activity in Texas by the DPS in late September.

That release followed the September arrests of more than 20 TDA members who had "taken over" the Gateway Hotel in Downtown El Paso.

And this month come reports of arrests of several TDA members during a traffic stop in San Antonio in September followed by the arrests in October of dozens migrants (at least four of whom were TDA members) who were terrorizing a North San Antonio apartment complex.

Since then the picture of the spread of the TDA across Texas has become more clear. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) released a photo of the October 11, 2024 arrest of a member of a TDA member wanted for a murder committed in Texas. HSI has not revealed additional details about that crime.

This developing situation has prompted Texas Governor Greg Abbott to offer rewards of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of known or suspected Tren de Aragua (TDA) gang members. I have written an article about that you can read HERE.

Do you believe enough is being done to combat this violent migrant Venezuelan gang?
