Shen Rotary Club to host outhouse race fundraiser

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Rotary Club of Shenendehowa will be hosting its eighth annual “Winter Outhouse Races and Skillet Toss Competition” at Clifton Common in Clifton Park on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Mac Factor food truck will be on-site.

There are two rules in the skillet toss competition: underhand tosses only and the longest toss wins. The entry fee is $5 for two tosses.

Outhouse race teams will race their outhouses on skis as they compete for the Rotary “throne” and prize money. Teams of five can build their outhouses with the Shenendehowa Rotary specifications in mind or rent one for $50. The entry fee for the competition is $50.

For the race, one member will ride the outhouse while the remaining four team members push, pull, or drag their respective outhouse. The Rotary encourages team themes and costumes.

Races pit two teams against each other with winners advancing to the next round with cash prizes for first, second, and third place. The outhouse races are a fundraiser supporting causes like Care Links, a community health program that assists seniors in the community.
