The fifth-seeded Wildcats held Warrensburg, the four-seed, to a season-low scoring output, winning 34-25 to secure a spot in the Class C final four.

Maple Hill came out of a first quarter that saw five lead changes on top of the Lady Burghers by one point at 8-7, and opened up the second quarter on a 7-0 run to add to its lead. The Wildcats headed to the locker room at halftime with a 19-12 advantage.

That lead would only grow to start the second half as Maple Hill sophomore forward Rosilee Forrest turned a baseline drive into a lay-up, extending the margin to double digits, 25-14, with 2:23 remaining in the quarter.

Credit to the Warrensburg defense, which locked down from there and held the Wildcats without a field goal for the next 8+ minutes of game action. During that span, the Lady Burghers managed to get the deficit back to single digits; Eliana York connected on a three-pointer to bring them to within seven points at the 2:59 mark of the final stanza.

But Maple Hill’s Addi Loszynski responded with back-to-back field goals in the paint on the Wildcats’ ensuing two possessions to clinch her team the 34-25 victory.

Loszynski, just a sophomore, led all scorers with 13 points, and was joined in double figures by her classmate, Forrest, who recorded 10.

York turned in a team-best nine points for the Lady Burghers.

Maple Hill (13-7) advances to take on top-seeded Greenwich Monday in the semifinal round to be played at Averill Park High School. Opening tip is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Warrensburg concludes an impressive season with an 18-4 overall record.
