Moreau Town Board advances construction moratorium at industrial park

MOREAU, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Moreau Town Board voted to advance a proposal to pause construction in Moreau Industrial Park. The vote comes as discussions continue over plans to build a carbon fertilizer manufacturing facility in the park.

It would turn solid waste from sewage plants into a form of fertilizer.

Environmental activists have spoken out against the Saratoga Biochar project saying it will release harmful chemicals. But the company said the chemicals are removed first.

The proposed moratorium now moves to the planning commission.
