The Patriots led 28-23 at the half. Holy Names outscored Broadalbin-Perth by six in the third quarter to take a 43-42 lead into the fourth.

The fourth quarter was a back and forth barrage, with eight lead changes in the quarter alone. The two teams went blow for blow, combining for nine threes and 38 points. Holy Names survived the onslaught, escaping with a 63-60 win.

Sophia Bologna and Ryan Carroll each hit two threes late in the fourth quarter for Holy Names.

“I’ve always said it in my coaching years here, when the bright lights go on, big players make big plays,” said Holy Names head coach Steve Gigliello. “Sophia Bologna, Ryan Carroll, Morgan Brewer, all of our guys made big plays when it mattered.”

Bologna led the way with 25 points.

“If we’re in a clutch game, that’s when you want to make shots,” said Bologna. “You want to make shots in a close game so you can get the lead and get the win.”

Holy Names will take on top-seeded Catholic Central on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at HVCC.
