Sustainable Saratoga seeks volunteer tree planters

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Volunteers will plant 35 shade trees during the tenth annual Tree Toga event in Saratoga Springs on April 27. The additions will bring the total number of trees planted in the past ten years to 411.

“Tree Toga is a true labor of love,” said Sustainable Saratoga Urban Forestry Project Chair
Caroline Rothaug. “We appreciate each and every volunteer who helps put small trees in the
ground now so that future generations can enjoy tall, strong trees later. We are especially
grateful to have the Saratoga Springs Department of Public Works and Pitney Meadows
Community Farm as our partners.”

Sustainable Saratoga is seeking volunteers to help plant the trees. Volunteers will meet at Pitney Meadow Community Farms at 9:30 a.m. on April 27 for a lesson on tree planting. They will then be dispersed to assigned locations around the city.

Tree Host homeowners and other volunteers will provide care for the trees. Head to Sustainable Saratoga’s website to learn more about the urban forestry project or to sign up as a volunteer.
