Schenectady Municipal Golf Course opens for the season

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Schenectady Municipal Golf Course opened for the season on Tuesday. Officials hoped to open the course last week but delayed the opening because of the snowstorm.

Crews are still cleaning up some downed trees and branches after the March ice storm. Matthew Daley, the course’s head professional, said the weather has been on their side this year with the exception of two late season storms.

“This is earlier than we have in years past,” he said. “I think last year was around April 20, so it’s a good week and a half earlier this year.”

The course layout remains the same as it has in past years, but a new irrigation system was recently installed. Officials said the new system will make a noticeable improvement in the course’s condition.
