Four local towns were nominated , Saratoga Springs, Saugerties, New Paltz, and Great Barrington, but only Saugerties made the Top 10 list. However, Saratoga Springs did make the Top 10 list for “Best Small College Town.”

“Attracting a lively New York City crowd, especially on weekends, the town’s Main Street is a treasure trove of antique shops, art galleries, a bookstore, as well as an array of casual and upscale restaurants,” read the bio for Saugerties on the “Best Small Towns in the Northeast” winner posting. “Saugerties is also known for its beautiful nature, with hiking trails and waterfalls nearby, as well as the iconic Saugerties Lighthouse, perched at the confluence of the Hudson River and Esopus Creek.”

I lived in Saugerties and still currently do, but anybody who thinks that it's a great place to live is completely delusional. Don't get me started on the high taxes, cost of living, etc. I would prefer no taxes at all, but I know the government bureaucracy at town hall wouldn't allow that.
