NXIVM property in Halfmoon up for sale

HALFMOON, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The NXIVM property with an upstairs room that was known as “The Library” has been listed for sale. The property at 8 Hale Drive in the Knox Wood Development of Halfmoon was listed for sale on April 10 .

NXIVM, a Capital Region-based organization, drew national attention for operating as a “sex cult” that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, and racketeering. The cult reportedly operated out of a few locations including two townhouses in the Knox Wood Development and three commercial buildings on New Karner Road in Colonie.

The property at 8 Hale Drive has two bedrooms, and one and a half bathrooms for a total of 1,214 square-feet. The townhouse is listed for $148,000 and it’s estimated to cost the buyer $60,000 in repairs.

According to a Realtor.com article from 2020, the 8 Hale Drive property was purchased in January 2018 for $64,500. At the time it was seized, its estimated value was $171,800.

NXIVM’s leader, Keith Raniere, was found guilty in June 2019 of racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud, forced labor, sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and attempted sex trafficking. He was sentenced to 120 years in prison in October 2020 and is currently incarcerated at a federal prison in Arizona.
