LOUDONVILLE, NY ( NEWS10 ) — The morning provided a stage for the Siena Women’s Lacrosse team’s eight seniors to be celebrated while the afternoon game brought forth sterling defensive performances by both teams as Siena held off pesky Mount St. Mary’s 7-6 on Saturday at Hickey Field.

Siena (11-4, 6-1 MAAC) maintained its positioning toward the top of the MAAC standings as it won for the ninth time in the past 10 games and fourth consecutive to stay within one game of conference leader Fairfield.

The Saints led just 3-2 at the break but gave themselves some separation in the third quarter with goals by Meghan Decker, two by Kelly Logue, and one from Sarah Irish to extend their lead to 7-3 heading into the final frame.

Siena outscored the Mount 4-1 in the quarter.

The Mountaineers (5-9, 3-4 MAAC) made it interesting, however, when it reeled off three goals in the fourth quarter on marks by Madison Harmening, Anna Salerno, and Christina Haspert in the final 4:08 of play.

But, Saints’ graduate student goalkeeper Sabrina Krasner made her 11 th save of the day on a shot attempt by Salerno with one second remaining to seal it.

Grace Dobrzynski had two goals and an assist, Logue finished with two goals while Taryn Asselin added two assists, six draw controls, and two ground balls to aid Siena.

Defensively, Laura Bonomo was extremely active as the senior caused three turnovers and collected three ground balls to lead the back line.

Execution when each team had an advantage was also a key as Siena made good on 2-of-3 free-position shots while Mount St. Mary’s was just 1-of-6 on such opportunities.

Before the game, Siena honored its senior class of 2024 including Asselin, Jordan Bentley, Bonomo, Rebecca Gilhooley, Madyson Kolligian, Grace Kush, Grace Nothnagle, and Chrissy Wolford.

Siena travels to Connecticut to take on Quinnipiac (2-11, 1-6 MAAC) this coming Wednesday at 4 p.m.
