    Warren County seeking additional foster parents

    WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Warren County Department of Social Services (DSS) will host an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 23, for those looking to become foster parents. DSS is seeking out 10 additional foster parents to help meet the needs of the child protective system in Warren County.

    The meeting on Tuesday, April 23 will be at the Warren County Human Services Building, 1340 Route 9 in Queensbury starting at 6 p.m. A 10-week foster parent training session will start in May.

    Foster parents can be male or female, married or single, and must be at least 21 to apply. They will receive a daily board rate, clothing allowance, and Medicaid coverage for each child.

    Children under 5 receive assistance from the Women Infants Children (WIC) program, and there is no age limit to becoming a foster parent, all ages and retirees are more than welcome.

    “We have a number of children in care who need affection, structure, understanding, and a safe home that is provided by foster parents. Increasing the number of foster parents in Warren County is critical to strengthening our community by providing a crucial safety net for children,” says Christina Mastrianni, Warren County Commissioner of Social Services.
