EMMITSBURG, MD — Siena Men’s Lacrosse was officially in the MAAC Tournament Playoffs prior to the start of its game at Mount St. Mary’s, but the Saints had an opportunity to move up in seeding and did so with a humongous second half to rip past the Mountaineers 14-7 at Waldron Family Stadium in Emmitsburg, MD on late Saturday afternoon.

Siena (7-7 overall, 5-4 MAAC) trailed 7-4 with 14:06 left in the third quarter but outscored The Mount 10-0 for the duration with multiple strikes from Patrick Linton, Patrick Radomski, and Pratt Reynolds.

Caden Olmstead and Ryan McCarthy also scored in the onslaught.

With the MAAC playoff race tightly wound and many looking to wrap their heads around tie-breaking scenarios, a loss by Quinnipiac to LIU created a three-way tie between Marist, Siena, and Quinnipiac.

The first tie-breaker did not resolve things as each team went 1-1 against one another in a “mini-conference” among the teams during the season.

Marist earned the first advantage by virtue of a high seeding victory against LIU to earn the No. 4 seed.

That left Siena and Quinnipiac in their head-to-head meeting from earlier this season to determine the higher seeding from that point.

Siena defeated Quinnipiac 13-10 on April 6 so they were slotted fifth while the Bobcats dropped to the No. 6 seed.

Fifth-seeded Siena will make the short trip down I-87 to take on fourth-seeded Marist in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, April 27 in a MAAC Opening Round game with a time yet to be determined.

The game will be featured on ESPN+.

It is the Saints’ fourth consecutive MAAC postseason appearance under head coach Liam Gleason.

No. 3 Manhattan will host No. 6 Quinnipiac in the other pairing on Saturday.

Against the Mount, Radomski finished with a team-high four goals with an assist while McCarthy added one goal and four assists.

Jack Cavaioli had one goal and a pair of assists.

Despite being just 7-of-25 on faceoffs, Siena overcame that by getting contributions by several different players.

Five other players including Olmstead, Reynolds, Linton, Nikolas Barbero and Travis Fry all provided two points apiece.

Siena was also a perfect 23 of 23 on clears and forced 22 turnovers.

The Saints’ defense did not allow a goal over the final 29:94 of the game.

Individually, Brian Mack had a game-high four caused turnovers, Andrew Rooney led with seven ground balls and Andrew Arcuri made 13 saves with a .650 save percentage.

Mount St. Mary’s dropped to 1-14 and 1-8  in the MAAC.
