LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Siena women’s lacrosse team starts postseason play against sixth-seeded Canisius Sunday in the opening round of the MAAC tournament, with the winner of that game set to face second-seeded Niagara in the semifinals.

The Saints have been one of the top teams all season in the MAAC, but will be put to the test against a Golden Griffins squad that took them to the wire a month ago.

During that March 27 matchup the Saints were down, but fought back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Golden Griffins 4-1 to force overtime. Taryn Asselin scored the game-winner.

This time around, Asselin hopes the Saints won’t have to rely on overtime to get the job done.

“No matter what the score is in a given moment we know that we can change it or we can keep that lead if we have a lead so, I think going into this game we hope we’re not in the situation where we’re in OT again but if we are, we’ve seen it and we’re ready for it and we’re ready for whatever we have to face,” Asselin said.

Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Hickey Field.
