SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Plans to build a new arena in Schenectady took a step forward on Monday. A groundbreaking was held for the Mohawk Harbor Event Center .

The facility will host the Union College men’s and women’s hockey programs as well as trade shows, concerts, and other special events. Officials said the arena’s convenient location to Union College will allow more students to now only support the hockey programs but also get involved in the Schenectady community.
