SUNY Schenectady announces commencement speakers

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– New York State Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado is the keynote speaker for the 2024 SUNY Schenectady graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 16. Delgado is a 1995 graduate of Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons School in Schenectady and will share the stage with Student Trustee and graduate Maureen Mbanga.

The commencement is outdoors in the School of Music Parking Area and begins at 11 a.m. Delgado said he’s honored to speak to graduates about the future. He’s served in the U.S. House as a representative of New York’s 19th Congressional District, as a complex commercial litigation attorney, and even worked in the hip-hop music industry.

College President Steady Moono said the college looks forward to what Delgado will share with students. “It will be inspiring to our students and to everyone in the audience to have the opportunity to hear from him and learn more about his path to becoming the first person of color to represent upstate New York in Congress and then the second highest officer in New York State,” he said.
