    Columbia Habitat for Humanity expanding

    HUDSON, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Columbia Habitat for Humanity announced two new projects are underway, a full-home rehab project in Valatie and a new home in Niverville. The projects look to provide more safe and affordable housing for local families.

    Additionally, the group looks to expand and serve families in Greene County. Within the coming months, they plan to be known as “Columbia-Greene Habitat for Humanity.”

    All homes built by the “Columbia-Greene Habitat for Humanity” will offer affordable, efficient, and sustainable housing for average-wage and lower-income residents.

    Last March, Columbia Habitat for Humanity announced two homes would be built in Philmont . The homes are nearing completion at this time.

    “The housing affordability crisis in our communities has not abated. We are committed to building quality, energy efficient starter homes that our average and lower-wage workers can afford, and that our towns and villages desperately need to retain the quality of life that makes these communities vibrant and attractive,’ Al Bellenchia, Chief Executive said. “We are very excited to explore how we can work with community leaders in Greene County to site projects there, as we continue building on our 30 years of service in Columbia County.”
