MOREAU, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Schuylerville defeated top-seeded Tamarac Thursday in the Class B final to claim the program’s first section title in twenty years. Lucy Myers drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning, singling to right field and scoring Gabi Jackson. The Horses took a 3-2 lead into the bottom half of the inning, where Sophia Wahl secured the victory.

Myers stepped up for the Horses last season as an eighth grader, and believes that experience paid dividends in the championship game.

“I was feeling a little more confident than I was last year,” said Myers. “I’ve been working so hard over the winter and it just feels so good to come up and be more confident in the box and get the winning hit.”

Tamarac struck in the fourth when Mindy Blake beat a throw to home and was called safe. Schuylerville swung back in the next frame with ducks on the pond, and Taylor Dennis singled to center. Both runners scored, giving the Horses their first lead of the game.

The Bengals didn’t give up and got busy again in the batter’s box. Erin Lee homered to left-center, tying the game at two.

But Myers’ seventh-inning heroics helped seal the win for Schuylerville.

The Horses now move on to the sub-regional round of the state tournament.
