    Queensbury man pleads guilty to bank fraud conspiracy

    ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– A Queensbury man admitted to committing bank fraud and aggravated identity theft at a Capital Region credit union. Court officials said Evan Cutler, 25, was charged in October 2023 along with three other people for the conspiracy.

    According to United States Attorney Carla Freedman, between February and October 2023, Cutler and four others defrauded SEFCU , now Broadview Federal Credit Union , by using other people’s identities to withdraw loaned money. Cutler applied for loans using New York State licenses with different names and dates of birth but his photo.

    Cutler also admitted to stealing $113,800 from the withdrawals given to Allahson Allah, formerly known as Gwyn Cancer, age 53, of Albany, who was a co-conspirator. Former Member Service Manager at SEFCU Caeshara Cannon, who helped Cutler and others create counterfeit checks, also pleaded guilty.

    Cutler’s sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19. He faces a sentence of 2 to 32 years, a fine of up to $1.25 million, and five years of probation.
