Colonie eatery set to close as owners retire

COLONIE, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Another restaurant on Wolf Road in Colonie will soon be closing. According to a Facebook post , Hong Kong Bakery & Bistro is set to close on August 26 as the owners are retiring after 20 years.

According to the Hong Kong Bakery & Bistro website , owners Berry Lai and Shu Lam Chan first opened the restaurant in 2003 on Troy Schenectady Road in Latham before moving to two different locations on Central Avenue in Albany. They then found their place at 8 Wolf Road in Colonie in July 2013.

“We truly appreciate your patronage and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everyone’s support during the good and bad times,” said the owners in their retirement post .

Hong Kong Bakery & Bistro serves both Cantonese cuisine such as dim sum, noodles, fried rice, and beef, pork, chicken and vegetable dishes, as well as bakery items such as cakes, buns, mousse, cookies, and other pastries. The owners said any unused gift certificates should be used through August 26.

“We are honored to have been a part of the community and thank you for allowing us to serve you,” said the owners.

Toward the end of July, Buca di Beppo closed its doors at 44 Wolf Road after 24 years. The Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub at 107 Wolf Road also closed on Sunday, August 11.
