GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Gloversville Enlarged School District (GESD) has announced it will implement the use of Yondr pouches to secure students’ phones during the school day. This is to enhance focus and reduce distractions in the middle and high schools.

Yondr pouches are where students can place their phones, smartwatches, and earbuds at the start of the day. The Yondr pouch works with a magnetized lock that must be opened using an unlocking base.

The school district anticipates that full implementation of the Yondr pouches will begin on or around October 1. Any parent who needs to get in contact with their child can call the school’s main office and if contact information needs to be retrieved from a phone during the day, the pouches will be temporarily demagnetized under supervision in the main or guidance offices.
