    Kingston man arrested on narcotics charges

    KINGSTON, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a Kingston man in connection to a drug sale investigation. William Bennett, 34, is facing multiple felony charges.

    In August of 2021, the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement and Narcotics Team (U.R.G.E.N.T.) began an investigation into the sale of cocaine and crack cocaine in Kingston and its surrounding areas. During the investigation, Bennett was identified as a suspect of the drug sales.

    On August 12, 2024, Bennett was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. According to the sheriff’s office, Bennett was being held in the Ulster County Jail on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest.

    Bennett was released back into the custody of the jail after being processed. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the City of Kingston Court at a future date.
