New tenant set for closing eatery space in Colonie

COLONIE, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A new eatery is set to take the place of Hong Kong Bakery & Bistro on Wolf Road in Colonie. The bakery and bistro is set to close on August 26 as the owners decided to retire after 20 years.

Briana Lin, who owns several restaurants in the Capital Region, is opening up a franchise location of Prince Tea House in the space at 8 Wolf Road. Lin said Hong Kong Bakery & Bistro owners Berry Lai and Shu Lam Chan had become her good friends.

“We felt that taking over the space would not only allow us to continue their legacy but also offer us a great opportunity,” Lin told NEWS10. “It’s a decision that came naturally—perfect timing, an ideal location, and the chance to help people we care about.”

Prince Tea House serves several types of hot tea, milk tea, smoothies, coffee, and other drinks, as well as pastries, scones, cakes, waffles, sandwiches, salads, and other appetizers. The chain has over 10 locations in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, with three more on the way, said Lin.

Lin owns Yang’s Asian Bistro in Latham, Kobe Hibachi in Latham, T-Swirl Crêpe in Latham, Azuma Sushi Bistro in Malta, Sawa Sushi Bistro in Glenmont, and Volcano Asian BBQ and Hot Pot in Niskayuna. She also has another restaurant, Omakase Sushi and Grill , that is set to open in Saratoga Springs in late September or early October.

Lin is looking to open Prince Tea House in early January. This is the chain’s first location in upstate New York.
