Crews make progress on Albany airport terminal expansion

COLONIE, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Construction continues at Albany International Airport. Crews are making progress on the terminal expansion project.

Officials with Turner Construction, the company overseeing the process, explained what charges are on the way.

“Just to put it in perspective, the existing bridge that was in place here that allowed people to queue and wait to go through security, that was about ten feet wide,” Beth DiBattista explained. “And the addition that you will start to see — steel, which is a big deal — still will be starting to be installed on top of these foundations in the month of September. And that steel width of that new expansion will actually be over 10 times the width of the existing bridge.”

Travelers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their departure while the flow of traffic has been adjusted for the expansion project.
