Delving deeper into mpox with NYS DOH

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Major outbreaks of mpox have been reported by the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 500 deaths have been reported across the continent.

The World Health Organization has declared a global emergency for the second time in two years.

The New York State Department of Health said the variant the emergency was declared over was Clade One, not the Clade Two that was previously found in New York.

DOH Commissioner stressed that if you’re eligible to be up-to-date on the two-dose commercially available mpox vaccine. If you have lesions, you should go to your healthcare provider to be tested.
