    The FBI Albany Field Office is partnering up with the Saratoga Springs Police Department. Also, New York is spending $646 million to recruit healthcare workers. This, and more, in your five things to know this Friday.

    1. FBI Albany Field office partners with Saratoga Springs PD

    The FBI’s Albany Field Office announced it would formalize a partnership with the Saratoga Springs Police Department. News10 was there for the details on how that partnership works and why law enforcement felt it was necessary.

    2. New York dropping $646M to recruit, train health care workers

    Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that the state is giving $646 million to three organizations over the next three years. It’s part of the Career Pathways Training Program to attract more new health care workers to the field statewide.

    3. Local WWII veteran who survived D-Day, dies at 101

    Julius Boreali, who shared his harrowing experiences on D-Day with News10 in 2023, passed away Wednesday at the age of 101. His family tells News10 he died of natural causes.

    4. Free teacher supply store opens in Albany

    A teacher supply store has been created in the basement of the Westgate Shopping Center by Pastor Charlie Muller of Victory Church. The store-like layout allows teachers to pick out any items they may need for their students and classrooms for free for the upcoming school year.

    5. Coxsackie-Athens School District hires Catskill principal

    Junait Shah, the former Catskill High School principal, has a new job. Shah will begin a probationary period as the Director of Innovation and Technology at Coxsackie-Athens on Monday, Aug. 19, according to the Coxsackie-Athens Board of Education.
