    Car chase ends in arrest for Watervliet man

    WATERVLIET, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A Watervliet man was arrested after fleeing police in a car after being accused of threatening someone with a gun at the Watervliet Dollar Tree. Daryl Taylor Jr., 33, faces a slew of charges.

    According to Watervliet Police, on August 9, police responded outside the Dollar Tree at 1619 Broadway to investigate a reported threat. Police say someone alleged they were threatened with a gun. Upon arrival, the suspect fled in a car.

    After a brief chase, the suspect, identified as Taylor Jr., was taken into custody. The investigation led to a search warrant being executed on the car involved and a home on the 1100 block of 6th Avenue.

    Police say they uncovered an illegally possessed .380 caliber handgun, 48 oxycodone pills, 48.6 grams of crack cocaine, 22.5 grams of cocaine, $6,191.00 in cash, and items consistent with drug sales. Police also say a loaded shotgun was found and seized in an unsecured area where children were present.

    Charges:

    • Second-degree menacing
    • Second-degree reckless endangerment
    • Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
    • Second-degree obstruction
    • Criminal possession of narcotics with intent to sell (two counts)
    • Criminal possession of narcotics (two counts)
    • Criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell
    • Second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia
    • Criminal possession of a controlled substance cocaine
    • Multiple vehicle and traffic violations

    Taylor was arraigned in Watervliet City Court. He was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
