Gansevoort man accused of raping minor

NORTHUMBERLAND, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A Gansevoort man was arrested following an investigation regarding sexual assault against a child. Matthew Vargues, 32, is charged with sexual assault against a child.

According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, Vargues is accused of first-degree rape against a victim who was under 13 years old. He was arraigned at the Northumberland Town Court and is held at the Saratoga County Jail, pending further action.
