    Albany Police arrest 3 in connection with 2 robberies

    ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Albany Police Department arrested three people in connection with two robberies that occurred on Thursday evening. All three suspects face robbery charges.

    Charges

    Deavonta Benson, 22, of Albany

    • Second-degree robbery

    Isaiah Laurange, 21, of Chatham

    • Second-degree robbery
    • Fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property

    Jaylind Thomas, 21, of Hudson

    • Second-degree robbery
    • Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property

    Police say they responded to the area of Ontario Street and Hudson Avenue for reports of a robbery at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday where they learned a man was approached by three people demanding his personal property. The three suspects allegedly punched the victim several times in the face before stealing the victim’s wallet and fleeing the scene.

    Shortly after, officers reported responding to Madison Avenue and Quail Street for reports of a second robbery where the three suspects pushed the victim to the ground and demanded his property. The suspects allegedly stole the victim’s phone which fell when the victim fell to the ground and fled on foot.

    The three suspects were observed at Washington Avenue and Quail Street before being taken into custody, according to Albany Police. They were scheduled for arraignment on Friday morning.
