APD: Man arrested for stolen handgun possession

ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– Albany Police arrested an 18-year-old on Saturday for possession of a stolen handgun. Police said John Lafore, of Albany, was charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Police were responding to a call about a person who fell at Yazzy’s Market on Central Avenue. Police added Lafore had the handgun on him in the store when they arrived.

Police said that while investigating, they found the gun had been reported stolen. Lafore was released on an appearance ticket for Albany City Criminal Court on a later date.
