8/30/2024: A Copy-Paste Weather Day, Storms Saturday

The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:

We continue to have an easterly influence off the ocean, keeping most of us on the cloudier side for once more day with just a few spotty showers. More sunshine is expected off to the northeast again. Thunderstorm chances will ramp up for Saturday, but a drier finish to Labor Day Weekend is on tap.

Spotty showers this morning, especially to the southwest of Albany, won’t dampen things all that much. Temperatures will be very similar to yesterday with most areas in the lower half of the 70s this afternoon.

Clouds hang around overnight, keeping temperatures on the mild side. Lows mainly in the upper 50s and lower 60s. A few showers/rumbles of thunder are possible heading into Saturday morning.

A few showers and thunderstorms are expected for Saturday morning, but the more widespread activity will hold off for the late afternoon-early evening hours.

Any storm, especially during the afternoon, could contain gusty winds – especially if breaks of sun prove enough to destabilize the atmosphere ahead of these storms.

Aside from the storminess, humidity levels will creep up with dew points close to 70. Actual air temperatures should climb a bit higher than today and yesterday, with widespread 70s to near 80 degrees.

Perhaps a few showers linger into Sunday morning, but we will turn increasingly sunny during the afternoon as the humidity drops. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Much cooler though for Labor Day itself – with a bit of a breeze as well – with highs struggling to get back into the low 70s.

Check out Tuesday morning – widespread 40s expected! Some of the higher spots may dip into the upper 30s for a brief period. Warmer for the afternoon though with highs mainly in the low 70s. High pressure will give us dry conditions and a ton of sun for much of the work week – with highs gradually climbing back close to 80 by Thursday.
