LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Environmental advocates released new details about the impacts of an herbicide that was added to parts of Lake George. The Lake George Association said the herbicide, known as ProcellaCOR, removed an invasive species from parts of the lake, but it did not get rid of it completely.

They found the lake’s directional flow impacted how effective the herbicide was. They are also looking into whether the removal of the invasive species is causing algae blooms.

The herbicide was added to the lake at the end of June after a long legal battle over concerns about the herbicide’s safety. Environmental advocates and state regulators have agreed to continue monitoring the herbicide’s impact through next spring.
