LEEDS, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– After months of delays, the Stewart’s Shop in Leeds, 705 Route 23B, opened its newly rebuilt store on Friday, Sept. 6. A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m.

The building, approximately 3,900 square feet, is significantly larger and will offer guests a larger array of products, with more space to shop, eat and get gas. At the grand opening, Stewart’s will be offering guests free and discount items all day.

    Grand Opening Specials:

    • Free single scoop ice cream
    • Free, any sized coffee and tea
    • 99 cent, make your own hot dog or roller grill item
    • 99 cent, pizza slices
    • 99 cent, 20 ounce stewart’s soda or refresher
    • 20 cents off fuel per gallon, all grades including diesel and premium non-ethanol.

The building was originally scheduled to open on April 15 but was postponed two times after. According to Greene County officials, the delays were caused by a phone line that was located in the future storm water area and Central Hudson had to remove it.

The new Stewart’s is located in the lot where the former Greene County Visitor’s Center sat, prior to it being demolished last October. As part of the $4.1 million investment into Catskill with the build, Stewart’s donated its old building to the County for a new tourism office.

The renovations for the center are set to begin once the gas tanks are removed from the site. However, two other projects for the newly formed commericial park are still in the works.

One of the other projects for the park is a 92- room Hampton Inn by Hilton through the Catskill Lodging, LLC of Warwick, NY. The third parcel is still available and being marketed by the Greene County Industrial Development Agency.

In honor of the grand opening, Stewart’s Shops will be donating $1,500 to the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties. The grand opening will include a ribbon cutting ceremony with local officials and Stewart’s representatives.
