ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The restaurant industry is ever-changing with restaurants opening, closing, relocating, or just doing their thing. Here’s a recap of the latest Capital Region restaurant news, September 9 through 13.

Capital Region restaurant inspections: September 3-6

These are the inspections from September 3 to 6 reported by the NYSDOH divided up by critical violations, non-critical violations, and no violations. You can find a list of all restaurant inspections for the last several years on the NYSDOH website .

New bakery opens in downtown Albany

Downtown Albany has a new bakery. Fat Boy’s Sugar Shack officially opened its doors in August. Fat Boy’s Sugar Shack is owned by Anthony Coleman. The bakery sells cheesecakes, banana pudding, bundt cakes, parfaits, cookies, brownies and more.

New Wilton eatery serving up pizza and more

Brian Brumley has been working to open his new venture, Rustic Pizza & Eats , for over a year. The eatery finally had its soft opening in July.

2024 Oktoberfest events in the Capital Region

Oktoberfest is an annual festival in Munich, Germany, that celebrates German culture, food, and beer. For 2024, the festival is held from September 21 to October 6.

Columbia County restaurant closing after 10 years

Gaskins, located at 2 Church Avenue in Germantown, is closing its doors. Owners Sarah and Nick Suarez made the announcement in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Coffee shop opening fifth location in Albany

Stacks Espresso Bar is opening up its fifth location in the Capital Region. The local coffee shop chain is opening in the former Stagecoach Coffee space at 90 State Street in Albany.
