Bear sighting at Wynantskill Union Free School District

WYNANTSKILL, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– Wynantskill staff was surprised by a furry visitor Wednesday morning. School officials said a black bear was spotted on the soccer field just beyond the playground around 10:30 a.m.

The school said North Greenbush Police Department and Animal Control monitored the bear before it wandered onto school grounds. Police and Animal Control responded to the school for the bear, and students were held inside for recess and gym for the remainder of the day.

The district has not decided whether to reschedule or cancel the boys’ soccer game. Stay with NEWS10 as more information becomes available.
